  5. Canning: Food is sealed in airtight containers and heated to kill bacteria. This keeps food safe and ready to eat for a long time, such as canned vegetables and meats.
  6. Salting and Smoking: Salt draws moisture out of food to slow bacteria growth. Smoking adds flavour and helps preserve meats and fish.
  7. Blanching: Quickly boiling vegetables to stop enzyme activity before freezing or drying. This keeps vegetables bright and fresh-tasting.
