PwC Chartered Accountant Bursaries

At PwC, we offer bursaries to aspiring chartered accountants, providing various levels of support while students focus on their studies. We believe in growing a community of solvers and are proud to support more than 500 students annually. Our bursaries are tailored to meet both academic performance and financial need.

Becoming a Chartered Accountant (CA) is just the beginning at PwC. After completing your studies, you can further your career by completing your training and obtaining your professional qualification with us.

Who Can Apply?

We encourage students with a strong academic track record to apply. This includes:

  • Grade 12 students intending to pursue a Chartered Accountancy qualification.
  • Undergraduate students studying towards a CA qualification.
  • CTA/PGDA students.

Our bursaries are awarded based on both academic merit and financial need.

Types of Bursaries

  1. Academic Achievement Award
    • A fixed amount, including a book allowance, paid directly to the university to cover part of your tuition.
  2. Tuition and/or Accommodation Bursary
    • Covers between 20% to 100% of your tuition costs along with a book allowance.
    • For students with high financial need, this bursary may also cover between 20% to 100% of accommodation costs and a once-off living allowance.
    • The bursary award is determined using a sliding scale based on your academic performance and financial need.

Bursary Application Dates

  • Applications for 2024 open on 1 July 2024 and close on 31 August 2024.

Selection Requirements

To be selected for a PwC bursary, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  1. Good Interpersonal Skills
    • You should demonstrate the ability to work well with others.
  2. Problem Solving
    • You must be able to assess situations and develop solutions independently.
  3. South African Citizenship
    • You need to be a South African citizen with a valid ID number.
  4. Leadership Skills
    • Demonstrate leadership ability, whether through a strong personality or the ability to present ideas clearly.
  5. Teamwork
    • Show that you can collaborate effectively with others and appreciate the importance of teamwork.

Academic Requirements

For Matriculants

  • Commitment to studying full time towards a Chartered Accountancy qualification.
  • Must study at a SAICA-accredited institution.
  • A minimum of a B-symbol in Mathematics (not Maths Literacy) and English (first or second language).
  • An overall average of 75% or higher.

For University Students

  • Must be pursuing a Chartered Accountancy qualification full-time at a SAICA-accredited institution.

Required Documents

Ensure you have the following documents ready before starting your application:

  • A valid South African ID.
  • Proof of academic results.
