The Chartered Accounting Bursary Programme offers exceptional South African learners pursuing or interested in pursuing Chartered Accounting a chance to receive comprehensive support throughout their studies and into a meaningful career at Old Mutual. This bursary includes personal development opportunities, vacation work, networking, and guaranteed employment post-graduation.

What the Bursary Covers

  • Tuition Fees: Full coverage throughout the duration of your degree.
  • Study Materials: Provided as part of the support.
  • Meals and Accommodation: Covered if studying in residence, including return flights home if necessary.
  • Incentives: Additional rewards for students who achieve excellent grades.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the bursary, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Citizenship: South African citizen.
  • Academic Requirements:
    • At least 70% in Mathematics.
    • 60% for English HL or 70% for English FAL.
  • Tertiary Institution: Acceptance from one of the following SAICA accredited institutions:
    • Nelson Mandela University
    • North-West University
    • Rhodes University
    • Stellenbosch University
    • University of Cape Town
    • University of Fort Hare
    • University of Johannesburg
    • University of Kwa-Zulu Natal
    • University of Pretoria
    • University of South Africa
    • University of the Free State
    • University of the Western Cape
    • University of the Witwatersrand
  • Commitment: Must be committed to entering the Old Mutual Chartered Accounting Training (OMCAT) Programme.

The Application Process

  1. Online Application: Submit your application at www.oldmutual.co.za/careers/accounting-bursary.
  2. Bursary Motivation Form: Download, complete, and attach the form to your online application.
  3. Gamified Assessment: Complete the assessment online (not timed).
  4. One-Page CV: Attach your CV to the online application.
  5. Shortlisted Candidates: Will receive a link to complete psychometric assessments.
  6. Selection Day: Finalists will be invited for interviews.
  7. Provisional Offer: If selected, a provisional offer will be made, subject to final matric results and proof of university acceptance for an Actuarial Science or Accounting Science programme.

Important Notes

  • Parental/Guardian Consent: Required if under 18.
  • Preference: Given to candidates from under-represented designated groups, including those with disabilities and those from disadvantaged backgrounds demonstrating financial need.
  • Incomplete Applications: Will not be considered.
