LegalWise Member Bursary Programme
LegalWise is committed to achieving excellence through its people by providing opportunities to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to reach their full potential. Our Member Bursary Programme offers financial and mentorship support to students, helping them acquire the education needed for careers in fields where LegalWise is looking to recruit.
Bursary Allocation Criteria
To be considered for a bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- LegalWise Membership: The applicant or their parent must be a fully paid-up LegalWise Member for at least two years prior to applying and must maintain this membership throughout the duration of the bursary.
- Eligible Degrees: Bursaries are available for the following degrees:
- LLB
- BCom (Law)
- BA (Law)
- BCom (Accounting)
- BCom (Human Resource Management)
- BA (Human Resource Management)
- BCom (Management)
- BSc (Industrial Psychology)
- BSc/BCom (Informatics)
- BIS (Information Science)
- Full-Time Study: The bursary is only for students studying full-time towards one of the approved undergraduate degrees at a public university.
- Year of Study: Bursaries are awarded from the second year of study onwards. Students completing their first year may apply for the second semester of their second year.
- Application Timing: Bursaries are allocated for the year following the application submission.
- Study Mode: Bursaries are not awarded for part-time, correspondence, or distance learning studies.
- Academic Performance: Applicants must have achieved at least a “C” aggregate (60%) in their previous year of tertiary study.
- Language Proficiency: Applicants must be able to speak, read, and write in English and at least one other official language.
- Complete Applications: Only fully completed applications with all required documentation will be considered.
- Interview Requirement: Shortlisted applicants will need to attend an interview at their nearest LegalWise Service Centre.
Application Process
- Application Period: Applications open on 1 August each year and must be submitted by close of business on 30 September of the same year. Late submissions will not be considered.
