The Gauteng Department of Health is currently hiring five Laundry Workers at Pholosong Regional Hospital. This opportunity is ideal for candidates looking to enter the healthcare support sector and gain stable government employment.
The position falls under the Logistics and Support Directorate and involves assisting with hospital laundry and linen services to ensure clean and hygienic conditions within the hospital environment.
Responsibilities:
Collection of dirty linen bags from different sections of the hospital.
Deliver bags containing soiled linen to the sorting area of the dirty linen section.
Tying labelling of dirty linen bags.
Operate the rinsing machines sorting and packing the linen in the linen bank.
Loading and offloading clean linen from laundry trucks.
Mend torn linen.
Partakes in linen inventory counting and cleaning of linen trolleys.
Assist in other linen section duties per request of supervisors.
Execute illegal instructions by supervisor / management.
Demonstrate sound knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) principles and practices.
Perform other duties as allocated by the supervisor.
Be willing to undergo continuous training and development programs.
Attend meetings and training as approved by supervisor.
Comply with the Performance Management and Development System (Contracting, quarterly reviews and final assessment).
Requirements:
Grade 10–12 or an equivalent qualification
Good communication skills
Ability to work in a team
Knowledge of Batho Pele Principles
