The first step is to clearly identify the problem. This means you must understand what is wrong and where it happens in the production process. Without a clear problem statement, it is hard to find the right solution.

Next, gather information about the problem. Look at reports, inspect products, and talk to workers or supervisors. This helps you get facts instead of guessing. Good information makes decisions stronger and more accurate.

Common Techniques for Problem-Solving and Decision-Making

  1. Cause and Effect Analysis
    Also called a fishbone diagram, this technique helps find the root causes of a problem. It breaks down possible reasons into categories like materials, methods, machines, and people.
  2. 5 Whys

  5. PDCA Cycle
    Plan-Do-Check-Act is a cycle to test solutions step-by-step. You plan a change, try it, check if it worked, then act by fully implementing or adjusting the plan.

After choosing the best solution, apply it carefully. Make sure everyone involved knows what to do and when. Proper follow-up is needed to check if the problem is fixed completely.
